Chocolate Overload? I Think Not!

The other day I was looking at stuff on Pinterest and saw this recipe. When Cara heard my exclamation of joy, she rushed over to see what I was looking at and immediately stated that she was making these. Emma was spending the night and it was a prefect project for them to do.

Neither of the girls had made cookies from scratch and loved the process of seeing it come together. Next came the Oreos.

And last but not least...the brownie mix...

I know you will believe me when I say I didn't get time to take pictures before this was gone. Well, there was time, but I was eating and all...

Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie n’ Oreo Fudge Brownie Bar from Kevin and Amanda

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups (12 ounces) milk chocolate chips
1 pkg Double Stuffed Oreos
1 Family Size (9×13) Brownie mix
1/4 cup hot fudge topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream the butter and both sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3-5 minutes. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well to thoroughly combine. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt, then slowly incorporate into the mixer until the flour is just combined. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread the cookie dough in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish that’s been lined with wax paper and sprayed with cooking spray. Top with a layer of Oreos. Mix together brownie mix, adding an optional 1/4 cup of hot fudge topping to the mix. Pour the brownie batter over the cookie dough and Oreos. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45-55 minutes. (Ours was 55-60 minutes)

Handmade Louisiana Southshore Meeting

Most of the Handmade Louisiana meetings have taken place on the Northshore. We have added several new members to the group who live across the lake. We made our end of the month meeting in Metairie, so those who live too far to travel to the Northshore can attend a meet. We had a good turn out. Most of them were members I had not yet met. It was nice to be able to put a face with a name on the internet.

Handmade Louisiana members: Left to right- front- New Orleans Umbrella Company, Debi Deaux, Miss Malaprop, By Apryl, Bayou Tatter; back- Cheese and Chocolate, Lisa Raspino, Mamas Little Monkeys

Amused

This morning I went to the post office to mail 2 pairs of earrings purchased from me (thanks Joodlenoodles!). The post office opened at 9:00 and I was there a few minutes after. Two ladies were standing in front of the closed doors to the retail area. There is a small window just in front of the retail area where you can ring a bell to get certain services "after hours". A postal working was at this window talking to one of the ladies. The worker closed the window and I asked the ladies what was up. "The person with the key didn't show up for work." He was just running late. That is classic. I am so amused by this. There is one key to open the retail area? I love it. Several people came in and also stared at the closed doors. The postal worker came back and helped the next couple of people standing there, including me. I was able to mail my package and left before the doors opened. I wonder when this person showed up for work? You have to love living in a small town. This little slice of life has had me smiling all day.

Truly Pitiful

Everyday when I feed the dogs, the cats want some too. This is a relatively new occurrence. We have had the dogs for over 4 years and the cats started with wanting "lunch" about 6 months ago. The cats have always had dry food available 24/7. I mix wet and dry food together for the dog girls. For a while, Whiskers would come in and eat the dog food (usually with Jasmine eating at the same time).

Lately I have been buying Fancy Feast and putting a little on plates for Whiskers and Pretty. Pretty will come and sit patiently at my feet for her lunch. Much of the time, Whiskers expects to be waited on. Today she is in her "Ker Cube" (as C calls it) having a siesta. She doesn't even come out to eat. She just sticks her head out and chows down. That is just sad.

365 Photographs?

I have seen sites on the Innerwebs that talk about "Project 365". I love taking pictures and this appealed to me. Of course as usual, I am a little slow on beginning this project. The theory is you take a picture a day for one year and here I am starting on February 2nd. Oh well...this year it will officially be 333 photographs. I will take a photo a day, but I might not post every day. I hope to become a better photographer by doing this project.

The lovely lady in the header photograph is our cat, Whiskers. She loves to stretch and pose. I was able to catch her in the act of both. If you look closely, in the lower right hand corner you will see a nose. Skittles was coming closer to check out what the silly cat was doing.

Enjoy...
